SHURUGWI- Platinum mining giant Unki Mine has dismissed as fake a job recruitment advert circulating on social media platforms.

Unki urged job seekers not to follow fraudulent job advertisements circulating on social media as they risk losing their money to the fraudsters.

In an interview with The Midweek Watch, the mining company’s General Manager Walter Nemasasi (pictured) said the advert is a scam, advising the public to ignore it.

He said they only advertise job offers in mainstream media and on their official company website.

“We urged members of the public to disregard any communication outside social media platforms inviting them to apply for jobs in our organisation.

“The public should stay away from fake job adverts circulating online. Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant to avoid falling victim to these fraudulent schemes,” he said.

He said every year during the same period of the year, the company faces the same challenges with  a number of prospective job seekers losing their money.

He said their vacancies are never advertised on social media and they never request payment at any stage of the recruitment process.

Nemasasi said the mining company is no longer owned by Anglo-American as it has been taken over by South African based Valterra Platinum.
