MASVINGO-The 2025 Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League season wrapped up yesterday with dramatic final day action across the region.

Masvingo United Football Club, who were in the title race until the last two weeks, settled for third place after a 2-0 defeat to Tenax Correctional Services Football Club at Chisamba Grounds on Friday.

It was a heartbreaking finish for Una Una who had shown great promise throughout the season.

Despite consistent performances at home and flashes of brilliance from players like Agrippa Murimba, back to back wins, a goalless draw against Manica Diamonds U19 and the loss to Tenax CS FC ended their Premier Soccer League promotion hopes as they finished on 62 points.

Tenax CS FC’s win saw them leapfrog Masvingo United FC to finish second with 64 points, closing the season on a high.

However, it was FC Hunters who celebrated the most, having already sealed the title in Week 29.

Despite a 1-1 draw against Deportivo La Murambinda, they finished top of the table with 66 points and will look forward to play in the PSL next season.

Elsewhere, Destiny Stars FC ended their season strongly with a 3-0 win over St Paul’s Musami, while Mutare City Rovers also handed Great Zimbabwe University FC a 3-0 defeat.

Buffaloes FC produced one of the most entertaining matches of the day, thrashing Tongogara United FC 5-2 at Showgrounds.

At Mucheke Stadium, FC Wangu Mazodze recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over Manica Diamonds U19 thanks to a 90th-minute free kick by Lucky Itimu, finishing with 38 points and completing a double over the youthful Gem Boys.

Rusitu Tigers also made light work of Chivhu FC with a convincing 4-1 win.

Renco Mine FC had a bye to close their season.

This year the league showcased competitive football, surprise results, rising talent and renewed community support.

As the curtain comes down, all eyes now turn to FC Hunters as they prepare for life in the top flight league.
