This crucial training ran from Tuesday to Thursday, aims to impart essential skills that will enable participants to deliver life-saving medical assistance during emergencies including the golden hour soon after an accident.

Esther Kashangura, the Regional Traffic Safety Manager for Masvingo Province, highlighted the urgent need for such training following a concerning increase in road accidents within the region.

“Given the recent surge in accidents, TSCZ Masvingo has strategically chosen to implement this first aid training program in Gutu. The participants were meticulously selected based on their immediate proximity to major highways, notorious accident black spots, and other hazardous areas where their skills could be crucial,” explained Kashangura.

She also added that Participants in the training will engage in hands-on exercises and theoretical sessions aimed at covering a wide range of first aid procedures, including CPR, wound care, and handling trauma cases. Upon successfully completing the program, each responder will undergo a comprehensive assessment and subsequently receive certification.

“This initiative is a testament to TSCZ Masvingo’s long-standing commitment to community welfare and safety advocacy. Working alongside the Red Cross an organization renowned for its expertise in disaster management and first aid education, TSCZ is making substantial strides in equipping local residents with the tools necessary to respond effectively in emergency situations,” said Kashangura.

“The anticipated outcome of this training is not only to empower the 100 participants but also to create a ripple effect within the community, enabling residents to act decisively and potentially save lives when emergencies occur,” she said.

Through this proactive investment in first aid training, TSCZ Masvingo is exemplifying its dedication to corporate social responsibility and ongoing community development efforts.
