MIDWEEK REPORTER
CHIREDZI-AN 82 YEAR OLD man was allegedly killed by two men over plot boundaries in Triangle, Masvingo Province police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe has confirmed.

Dhewa told The Midweek Watch that on February 8 this year Caronelfeld Mashiri (27) and Courage Mashiri (34) of Plot 7, Shamba Range, Triangle under Chief Neromwe went to their neighbor Clemence Masaka Gwaure (82)’s homestead in Village 10 same area at around 6pm.
Masaka and Christian Mashiri (66), the father of Courage and Caronelfeld had a long standing land dispute over a boundary since 2000 when they were allocated their plots during the land reform program.
The dispute emanates from Nyajena water canal which passes through Mashiri’s 50h plot and irrigates community gardens in the area.
Masaka’s two children who are domiciled in South Africa went to Gwaure’s homestead and demanded that he accompany them to their place to discuss the long standing land dispute.
Gwaure refused and they started punching him with fists, boots until he fell down and they dragged him from his yard while raining blows on him.
His wife who was bathing came out of the bathroom as she heard her husband bellowing for help and started to plead with them but the duo would have none of that.
The wife sensing danger went to neighbouring homesteads for help, but when she came back they found the old man already dead.
A report was made at Triangle Police leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Dhewa urged members of the public to desist from engaging in parallel justice and approach the courts or police in the event of land disputes.
