Thief killed in mob justice

A chilling case of mob justice has rocked Murevegwa Village in Chivi District after the Zimbabwe Republic Police in Ngundu arrested four men in connection with the brutal murder of a local man accused of theft.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed that Nomore Murevegwa (33), Realise Murevegwa (18), Givemore Murevegwa (19) and Fortune Zimoto (43) were apprehended by police in Ngundu following the death of 33 year old Shakemore Chihwe Pedzisai.

The incident reportedly occurred on the 20th of  September 2025 when the suspects allegedly took turns to assault the victim using switches, hands and booted feet after accusing him of stealing.

The severity of the beating left Pedzisai critically injured and he was admitted at a hospital in Mwenezi, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries on the 22th September 2025.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) are still on the hunt for two additional suspects linked to the case Ngonidzashe Zimoto (24) and Martin Zimoto (22) who are believed to have fled the area shortly after the incident.

Authorities have urged members of the public with any information on their whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, the Zimbabwe Republic Police in Triangle is investigating another murder after the body of an unidentified man was discovered at Field 602, Section Six where the deceased was found with a deformed head and a stab wound to the forehead, suggesting a violent attack.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have information related to either case to report.
