As the so-called democratic and developed nations, gathered at The Hague; to map out how peace can be attained in Gaza, Ukraine, Iran and Israel.
Instead of concentrating on peace, they also focused in punishing Russia more, and increasing their defense expenditures. Even Humpty Dumpty can easily see the schism in this meeting. Disturbances in Sudan, the DRC, Cambodia and Thailand etc were not on the agenda. Strictly business.
Some European leaders really want to see peace prevailing in the world. But their voices are suppressed by populists and right wingers; which are fast winning elections in the west. On 26 June 2025, the 26 member states of Europe were meeting again in Brussels, hammering the same agenda of seeking peace. And Ukraine was also crying wolf, complementing how one day Putin will face the International Criminal Court, as a war criminal.
And l said to myself “how can peace be achieved when the other party is seeking revenge?” Some are arming themselves to the teeth, whilst denying weak nations the same. Why are countries like Pakistan and India are allegedly owners of the deadly nukes are not hounded?
Iran is an existential threat to the state of Israel and not of the United States of America. For Trump to bomb Iran’s nuclear reactors was his greatest sign of hubris. He was supposed to arm Israel, and finish off the job. Next time Comrade Putin, must watch out, because the good guys are coming for you.
Trump’s diplomacy also came into scrutiny, when he quickly rushed to tell the world that he got them. After some few days, he is on the news seeking a cease-fire between lran and Israel. This sign of myopic leadership is something designed for “shi….le countries,’ not for a superpower.
Old Biden, was also hawkish, and when Trump bounced back, l was one of his supporters. I treated him as a peacemaker, and unfortunately l took the wrong bet. America can make this world a better place depending on how it chooses the right leader.
