MASVINGO- Two suspects have been arrested by police in Masvingo on allegations of driving stolen vehicles.
Tanaka Chauke (18) of Chilonga Village under Chief Sengwe in Chikombedzi and Honest Ruzane (18) of Mistview Stands in Chipinge were apprehended by police for driving stolen vehicles.
Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dewa confirmed the arrest of the two in a press release.
“This communique serves to confirm the arrest of two accused persons for the theft of two motor vehicles in Masvingo and Nyika,”he said.
He said on the first account, on March 5 ,2025 at around 0830hrs ,Tanaka Chauke and Honest Ruzane stole a Honda Fit vehicle at a parking bay along Herbert Chitepo Street in Masvingo City.
The vehicle had been left locked by Pagwaringira Museva (38) who works at Motive Shop, PK Hardware Complex in Masvingo.
On another unknown date during the same month, the duo stole another Honda Fit vehicle at Nyika Growth Point which is owned by Pride Jakata (26) of Rufu Village under Chief Mazungunye in Bikita.
Police acted on received information and intercepted Chauke who was driving the stolen vehicle along Masvingo -Mutare Road near Chikuku in Bikita.
He implicated Ruzane whom he said had another stolen vehicle and they intended to meet at Birchnough Bridge.
Ruzane was arrested at Birchnough Bridge shops while seated in the stolen vehicle.
Inspector Dewa advised members of the public to always secure their vehicles when parked and to park vehicles at safe places.
