Teen falls to death while harvesting avocadoes

KWEKWE- A 19 -year-old man from Mbizo 6 in Kwekwe died on the spot on Monday morning after falling off a tree where he was harvesting avocadoes.

The deceased was identified as Tinotenda Maombera (19).

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident to The Midweek Watch encouraging people to exercise extreme caution in all situations to avoid injuries and unnecessary losses of lives.

“Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a case of sudden death where a 19 -year old man died on the spot when he allegedly fell headlong from an avocado tree.

“The incident occurred on 9 June, 2025 in Mbizo 6, Kwekwe at around 1100hrs,” he said.

According to Mahoko, it is alleged that Tinotenda Maombera (19) climbed on an avocado tree intending to pick avocadoes.

In the process, he slipped and fell down. He was rushed to Kwekwe General Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
