Harare – Takashinga Cricket Club in Highfied Harare, the esteemed institution that has been the cradle of Zimbabwean cricket, is set to honour the inimitable Masvingo Cricket General Manager Emmanuel Dube.

Dude, a founding father and driving force behind the club’s success, will have his name inscribed on one of the bowling end at the Takashinga International Venue.

Dube, a former right-arm seamer and one of the club’s pioneering members, has been instrumental in shaping the careers of numerous Zimbabwean cricketers, including the likes of Tatenda Taibu, Hamilton Masakadza, and Blessing Muzarabani, who have gone on to don the national jersey with distinction.

A respected coach, mentor, and match referee, Dube’s contributions to Zimbabwean cricket extend far beyond his playing days. He was the first head coach of the Zimbabwe Women’s national team and has officiated in 50 T20 Internationals and 100 List A matches, earning him a spot on the ICC International Panel of Match Referees.

“It meant the world to me, my family, and the Takashinga family, to have a bowling end named after me at Takashinga International Venue is a dream come true,” said Dube.

Dube’s recognition is also a tribute to his role in shaping the game in Zimbabwe. His influence has been felt across generations, and his legacy continues to inspire young cricketers.

The naming of the bowling end is a fitting tribute to Dube’s unwavering commitment to Takashinga Cricket Club and Zimbabwean cricket, and serves as a reminder of the power of hard work, humility, and dedication to make a lasting impact on the fast growing sport which was previously associated with the elite.
