Takaendesa to produce film featuring PWDs

MASVINGO- In a move to empower and promote disability inclusion in cultural preservation, DC Entertainment founder and director, Donovan Takaendesa is individually walking the talk through a film project.

The film dubbed Star is expected to start shooting by the end of this month with the aim to strengthen and challenge preconceived notions that leave people with disabilities (PWD) marginalised.

Speaking to The Midweek Watch, Takaendesa, said that auditions were done on March 15 and they will select 15 individuals who will feature in the film.

“The project ‘Star’ is meant for everyone including people with disabilities.

“The cast will feature those who would have made it at the auditions, but our main goal is to empower the disabled to be part of Zimbabwean film industry and make it a career,”

“Our project is promising and we are hoping to start filming at the end this month. So far we have done some auditions at Charles Austin last week where more than 50 people showed up for the auditions. It was great and I was overwhelmed. Masvingo has a lot of talent.

“However, from that huge number we need about 15 people and we are still finalising on that and those that have made it will be contacted,” said Takaendesa.

The film is expected to cast males and females aged between five to 60 years old.
