MASVINGO-The Roman Catholic Church’s St Gerard’s Parish youths will tomorrow (21/2/26) embark on a spiritually enriching all night pilgrimage at the Mary Queen of Peace Shrine in Gokomere, Masvingo.

The pilgrimage by St Gerard Parish of Harare is aimed at strengthening faith and guiding young people in their vocations.
In a telephone interview with The Midweek Watch, the Spiritual Director for Youths Brother Kenneth Temba, confirmed that about 150 young people aged between 18 and 30 are expected to take part in the pilgrimage.
“This pilgrimage is a special moment for our youths to reconnect with God and reflect on their lives. We are expecting 150 young people who are eager to grow spiritually and deepen their understanding of their vocation,” said Brother Temba.

He said the programme will begin with a candlelight Way of the Cross procession to the shrine, followed by confessions and preparations for Holy Mass which will be celebrated by Fr Tapiwa Chivorese.
Brother Themba added that Reverend Elvis Chirara will deliver a youth-focused talk titled “Youth before God, relationships, sex and money” addressing critical issues affecting young people today.
“As a Church, we recognise that young people face many challenges in areas such as relationships, sexuality and financial pressures. This talk seeks to guide them in making responsible and God-centred decisions,” he said.
The Holy Mass will be celebrated in honour of the First Sunday of Lent.
St Gerard’s Parish is located in Borrowdale, Harare and is one of the prominent Catholic parishes in the capital attended by Vice President Rtd General Constantino Chiwenga.
The pilgrimage is expected to provide a platform for prayer, reflection and spiritual renewal among the youths.
