St Don Bosco wins Deanery choral competitions

ZIMUTO-St Don Bosco Roman Catholic Church choir outclassed four other groups to clinch the tightly contested 2023 Masvingo Deanery choral competitions.

The competitions were held at the newly constituted St John Maraire Mission in Zimuto last week on Saturday running under the theme ‘’Be filled with the Spirit, singing and praying to the Lord with all your heart. Ephesians. 4:18b-19”.

The set piece song was ‘’ Paridza Shoko raMwari’’ composed by I.T Mapanzure.

The deanery had six choirs which were supposed to compete namely, St Don Bosco, St Theresa, St Peter and Paul, Gokomere Mission, St Barbra Mashava and St John Maraire Mission. St Barbra Mashava failed to make it for the competitions.

St Don Bosco choir scooped the first position, St Peter and Paul on the second, St Theresa came third position, St John Maraire Mission came fourth and Gokomere Mission came fifth position.

The Masvingo Diocese choral competition will be held at Silveira Mission in Bikita and the nationals will be held in Masvingo Diocese in November this year at a venue to be advised.
