SHURUGWI-Four daring robbers on July 12, 2024 at around 7pm pounced on a 40-year-old Shurugwi man, took away his US$150 before they force marched him to extract the gold ore for three hours.
The suspects, who were wielding an electric shocker and an axe, intercepted Rashirai Mafuku as he was walking along a footpath in the Makusha suburb.
The robbers then proceeded to electrocute Mafuku with the electric shocker and hit him on the back with the axe while searching him.
They stole $150 from his pocket and then forced him to walk to a nearby mine, where they compelled him to extract gold ore for three hours before finally releasing him, said Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.
Insp Mahoko confirmed the incident and stated that two of the suspects, Tafadzwa Chimbindi (28) and Peace Chingozho (31), both from the Dark City area of Shurugwi, have since been arrested.
The other two perpetrators remain at large, and the police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to their arrest.
