SHURUGWI- A 38-year-old man from Shurugwi was stabbed and killed after refusing to buy beer for three strangers last Thursday.
Bright Miti was pronounced dead upon arrival at Shurugwi District Hospital after being stabbed with a Columbian knife at around 5pm at the Peak Mine Compound in Shurugwi.
According to the Midlands Province police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, Miti was walking from Bonza Mine with his friend, Tapfuma Ncube, when they were approached by the three men who demanded that they buy them beer.
Miti and Ncube refused to buy beer which led to an altercation.
“One of the three strangers went on to stab Miti with a Columbian knife once behind his left knee whilst Tapfuma managed to free himself and escaped,” said Insp. Mahoko.
Miti was taken to Shurugwi Police Station, where a report was made, and then transported to Shurugwi District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police are now appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the three suspects involved in the incident.
