MASVINGO-More questions than answers are flying around as a Mucheke family that was seriously burnt when their house caught fire while they were asleep was locked from outside.

A family of three is fighting for their lives at Masvingo Provincial Hospital following a harrowing early morning fire at their residence along Zimuto Street, Mucheke A, this past Sunday.
The incident which occurred around 0400hours on March 22, was noticed by a neighbor, Tariro Chamunorwa (40).
According to the police, the informant Tariro Chamunorwa was awakened by screams coming from the next room.
Upon waking up, she discovered her own room was rapidly filling with smoke from the neighbors’ room.
It is said that Chamunorwa rushed outside only to find the victims’ door secured from the outside with a padlock.
She immediately raised the alarm, prompting other residents to come to the scene.
Among the responders was Jephta Munyangani (37), who, with the assistance of other neighbors managed to break the padlock to gain entry.
The neighbors managed to extinguish the fire and successfully rescued the occupants husband, wife and a child.
The victims were rushed to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where they remain admitted in serious condition.
ZRP Masvingo province spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa, confirmed the incident to The Midweek Watch.
The police observed that a sofa, a room divider, a small cellphone were destroyed, and power bank that had exploded.
Inspector Dehwa added that investigations are ongoing to identify the cause of the fire.
