Shingirirai College, a Roman Catholic Church run institution overseen by the Sisters of Jesus the Immaculate (SJI) at Don Bosco Parish, has acquired a brand-new 60-seater luxury bus easing transport problems for expanding learning institution.

The bus arrived at the school on Wednesday, accompanied by an uproarious handover ceremony to celebrate the occasion.
The school’s deputy principal Oliver Mavidza expressed his appreciation for the new bus, noting that it would greatly enhance the college’s transportation services. He also shared exciting plans for constructing an additional science block, which will provide the capacity to increase enrollment as they will be able to offer science subjects at A Level.

“We are really excited about this new bus, as it will make a substantial difference in our transportation services, we are also looking forward to expanding our facilities, which will allow us to accommodate more students and ensure they receive quality education,” said Mavidza.
Fr. Ricky Hungwe, the priest in charge of St Don Bosco parish, commended the college for its dedication to high-quality education.
“Shingirirai College has a longstanding reputation for excellence, and we take pride in its achievements, acquiring this new bus reflects the college’s commitment to its students, and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact it will have on their educational experience,” said Fr. Hungwe.
The new bus is set to greatly improve the college’s transportation options, providing students with a safe and reliable means of getting to and from school.

Currently enrolling 505 students, Shingirirai College has a rich history dating back to 1979, when it was established to offer skills training to disadvantaged youth. Over the years, the college has broadened its academic offerings, introducing Grade 7 to O-Level classes in 2015.
In 2021, the college experienced a significant spike in enrollment, adding 205 new students. The introduction of A-Level programs in 2018 has also proven to be a game changer, achieving a remarkable 100% pass rate in Arts and Commercial classes in 2024 Zimbabwe School Examinations Council exams.
