MUTARE- Police in Manicaland have arrested a 66 year old man for murdering his sister’s live-in boyfriend.
Manicaland provincial deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the arrest of Nyaradzai Makichi of Muneri Village under Chief Marange in connection with the matter.
Ass Insp Chinyoka said the incident happened on August 26 at Chitekete Business Centre in Marange.
Circumstances are that Talkmore Chiwocha (32) was drinking beer at Shiridzinonwa Bottle Store at Chitekete Business Centre in the company of a friend, Fanuel Muterembwe(38) when Makichi joined.
Makichi accused Chiwocha of having a love affair with his 58 year old sister, Constance Mavhiza.
Chiwocha and Mavhiza were staying together at Mavhiza’s place. Makichi was against their love affair.
A misunderstanding ensured between the two, but Muterembwe managed to refrain the two and later on left the two together and went outside the bar.
Chiwocha continued to insult Makichi. Makichi then withdrew a knife from his trousers and stabbed Chiwocha once on the right side of the stomach and once on the chest.
Makichi removed his knife and ran away from the scene.
Chiwocha died on the spot.
One of the patrons Blessing Nyore made a police report and Makichi was arrested. Chiwocha’s body was taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital for postmortem.
Ass Insp Chinyoka urged members of the public to solve their differences amicably.
