MWENEZI-Sacred Heart High , a Roman Catholic run Institution, nestled at Rutenga Growth Point registered a staggering 100% pass rate in the 2025 Advanced Level, Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council (ZIMSEC).
This historic achievement places Sacred Heart in the limelight, as one on the emerging academic powerhouses in Masvingo Province.
Sacred Heart High Head, Br Joachim Kamwana attributed the outstanding performance to teamwork.
“l would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our responsible authority, parents and guardians learners and members of staff for this wonderful performance. It is a result of their sacrifice, as they were teaching their students even during holidays and weekends” said Br Kamwana.
“The support of the parents is key in attaining good results. Our parents cooperated well in fostering discipline and most of them paid school fees in time” highlighted Br Kamwana.
Sacred Heart School Development Committee Chairperson, Juliana Magonyo praised the school head and teachers for flying the flag high. “As parents, we appreciate the Head, Br Kamwana and our dedicated teachers, for these results are a product of their hard work,” said Magonyo.
Apart from the academic success story, massive infrastructural developments are taking shape at Sacred Heart High, state of the art classroom blocks, science laboratory and sporting facilities which are almost complete are destined to change not only the face of the school but Mwenezi District.
Br Kamwana hinted that all these developments were meant to position Sacred Heart as a force to reckon with regardless of its rural setting. “Our desire is to offer and match that which is offered by urban schools, this is what we envisage, we are grateful to our Responsible Authority who always avail funds towards infrastructural development and this has enabled us to accomplish most of our projects in time,” said Br Kamwana.
Br Kamwana has hopes of transforming the school to a modern boarding school with time. “My future projection is to develop this school in to a modern boarding facility,” shared Br Kamwana.
With all the positive developments one will be forgiven to conclude that, it’s all rose at Sacred Heart. “Our challenge is that we do not have enough science teachers, l hope very soon our District Office will attend to the issue”
Sacred Heart High School was established in 200l as Rutenga Secondary, currently has an enrolment of 590 learners and 20 teachers.
