MWENEZI-Rutenga Primary once again proved to be a genius in the educational fraternity after registering a staggering 94% pass rate in the 2025 Zimbabwe School Examinations Council Grade 7 results.

Out of 129 candidates who sat for the exams, 121 passed with 5 candidates scoring 6 units, 8 learners had 7 units. In total, 54 learners scored 12 units and below.
Rutenga Primary Head, Tenson Mukapa hailed the class of 2025 for a job well done. “l am impressed with these results which are a result of collective effort. We prayed for these results and God answered our prayers,” said Mukapa
“Our results are a reflection of teamwork, l would like to thank our Grade seven teachers, parents and learners for making us proud,” added Mukapa
Since 2017, Rutenga Primary had been scoring pass rates of above 90 percent out of over 100 learners who sat for the examinations yearly. “Today we are not just celebrating good results, but quality. It is not easy to score 6 units. But here we have 5 learners and we are the only school in Mwenezi with such outstanding results,” reckoned Mukapa.

The impressive results at Rutenga Primary come at a time when the school is basking in educational glory after its Merit Award conferment celebrations on 5 November.
“This year is our year, we landed the Secretary’s Merit Award, Our Choral Music went to nationals, we also did well in sports….we are now a powerhouse” said an ecstatic Mukapa.
Mwenezi District Public Service Commission Human Resources Manager, Last Gondo commended Rutenga Primary for the outstanding performance. “These are fruits of a hardworking and focused team. The school’s academic performance is in unison with the school’s infrastructural and aesthetic development,” Gondo.
Rutenga Primary School Development Committee Chairperson, Leornard Ncube thanked the Rutenga Primary Community for being supportive. “l am grateful to the parents, teachers, Champion Head and learners of Rutenga Primary School for making us proud,” noted Ncube.
The 2025 Grade 7 class teachers at Rutenga Primary were Sinamai Tichafa, Kudakwashe Taruona, Theressa Mugwisi and Apolonia Machezera.
