RUSAPE-A Rusape man has been arrested for murder of a drinking partner for unknown reasons, Manicaland Police spokesperson, Inspector Nobert Muzondo has told The Midweek Watch.
Muzondo told this publication that yesterday (18/07/23), 54 year old Youvenzio Muchike’s lifeless body was found at Nemaire Business Centre at 630am by Pardon Mandipemha who was passing by.
Mandipemha went on to inform Sofia Chaguruka of Village 26 Nemaire Village under Chief Makoni in Rusape.
Chaguruka reported to Rusape Rural Police who attended the scene. They took the body to Rusape General Hospital for postmortem as there were blood coats on the nose and some blood stains on the work suit that he was putting on as well as bruises on his back.
Muzondo said that on Monday this week the murder suspect, Brighton Mauye (24) of Village 26 in Nemaire Village under Chief Makoni was drinking beer with the deceased in the company of three other patrons including Fredrick Mauye, Fred Chirembwe from Village 16 Nemaire area under Chief Makoni at Nyamukupe Bottle Store.
At around 7pm on Monday the drinking partners moved to Mushanegwenzi Bottle Store and Mauye became violent beating up the other drinking partners with clenched feasts and booted feet.
Tendai Nyamutowera who operates the bottle store and Farai Chibhaira restrained the accused from assaulting the other three patrons and kicked them out of the bottle store.
Roderick left and went home leaving behind the deceased and the accused as well the other two patrons.
At around 830pm Fred the other drinking partner left for home leaving the deceased and accused at the bottle store.
