Masvingo – In a bold and inspiring move to fight rising substance abuse among young people, a group of youth from Rujeko C has started a car wash project at Jazire Shopping Centre.
The initiative, led by local youth Gabriel Mwateta, is aimed at keeping young people busy and away from harmful activities. “This is our way of keeping youth occupied, considering that many youths do not have jobs. That way, they have little or no time for miscellaneous behavior,” said Mwateta.
The car wash, already operatig in the community, is more than just a business, it is a social statement. The young people behind the project say they are determined to create employment opportunities while promoting clean, productive lifestyles.
Local residents have welcomed the initiative, praising the youth for their proactive response to the challenges they face. The project comes at a time when drug abuse has become a growing concern in many urban and peri-urban areas across Zimbabwe.
The Rujeko youth hope their example will inspire similar efforts across the province and beyond.
