“The man’s condition is serious and he is under police guard as he is being charged with attempted murder for striking his wife with a machete on the head,” said Dhewa.
The circumstances are that on 14 January 2025, at around 12:10pm, the Olivia who is a teacher at Munongo Primary in Bondolfi was at home with the Dumisani and their two children, a teen girl and Tadiwanashe Shava (22) after having come back from the Masvingo Magistrate Court for a peace order.
Dumisani sent his daughter to charge his cellphone at his neighbour’s place and their son went outside to play leaving the accused and the complainant alone in the house.

Tadiwanashe held his mother and escorted her to Masvingo Provincial Hospital.
Dumisani who was now alone at home cut himself on the throat with a kitchen knife whilst all doors and windows were closed. He also opened a gas tank inside the toilet intending to suffocate himself to death.
A neighbour, smelled the gas, then broke the toilet window and entered inside and rescued Dumisani.
