Just in! Rujeko lion captured

Date:

MILLICENT HUNGWE

A team of Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority rangers  have managed to hunt down a lion which was seen roaming a bushy area near Rujeko high density suburb on Friday morning, ward 10 Councillor Sengerayi Manyanga has confirmed to The Midweek Watch.

The big cat was allegedly seen by Masvingo City Council workers in the morning at the main Sewer Station.

The lion was seen lying on a footbridge near the Pioneer Cemetery, causing panic among Rujeko residents who use the bushy area to and from the city center.

Zimparks spokesperson, Tinashe  Farawo  confirmed the search for the lion.

“The report was made and we have dispatched our team to the ground to search for the lion.

“We encourage the community to remain calm and be alert not to travel at night for lions travel at night; however, the lion in general does not like noise and places where people live,” he said.

“I have been informed that the lion has been captured and I am on my way to the Zimparks offices to confirm,” said Manyanga.
