MIDWEEK REPORTER
One of the most popular airtime vendors operating from OK Supermarket in Masvingo CBD, Ronnie Mupawaenda, has allegedly turned into a conman after swindling a fellow vendor $1 250.

Ronnie who dons spiked hair and grew up in the streets of Masvingo CBD allegedly misrepresented to Nickson Kwirirai, who operate from Belmont Building, that he had been instructed by businessman Allan Sibanda to send money to his driver who had a breakdown near Harare toll gate.
According to sources at OK Supermarket, Ronnie called Nickson on May 11 and instructed him to transfer $900 into a name he would give him later so that they can give to Allan Sibanda’s truck driver who had a breakdown.
He also allegedly told him that $350 has be transferred into a different account according to instructions from Allan Sibanda.
“After sometime on the same day Ronnie called Nickson and instructed him to transfer $900 into Trust Mudzviti’s ecocash number and $350 into Owen Chisvinga’s account.
“We heard that Ronnie was at Sisk Business Centre where he asked Trust to assist him with the transaction.
“With the other transaction I think it was easy since he used to stay with Owen.
“The following day when Nicky tried to call him for the reimbursement of the money Ronnie was no longer picking up calls and eventually blocked his mobile phone for incoming calls.
“When Nicky phoned Allan about the transaction, Allan expressed shock and denied ever sending Ronnie to do any money transfer on his behalf.
“We heard the CID is seized with the matter and all those involved have been summoned to CID section for questioning as investigations are in progress,” said a source on condition of anonymity.
When contacted Ronnie’s mobile number was not reachable and Masvingo Province police spokesperson said he has not been informed about the fraud case.
Nickson told The Midweek Watch that he cannot comment on the matter as it would jeopadise the ongoing investigations.
