MIDLANDS- Zvishavane based Rolland Golf Club is reeling from the loss of its professional player, Morton Kombai who tragically lost his life in a road traffic accident in Harare on Sunday.

The tragic accident left Tonderai Masunga, Biggie Chibvuri,Victor Kachepatsonga (Malawi) and Lucky Ayisa (Ghana) injured.
In an interview with The Midweek Watch, Rolland Golf Club Captain Piri Mukono described Kombai’s death as a big loss to the team.
“As Rolland Golf Club, we are baffled by his untimely departure. His death has left us exposed and vulnerable.
“Kombai was instrumental in the training of our junior team and beginners. He was the team’s advisor and without him we have been left poorer,” he said.
He thanked Platinum mining giant Mimosa company, the Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA) and the entire Zvishavane community for their support.
“I want to thank Mimosa Mining Company, the Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA) and the whole Zvishavane community for their support during this difficult time,” he said.
He said Kombai’s body will be moved from Harare to Zvishavane tomorrow. He will be buried in Chiku Village in Zvishavane on Thursday.
Kombai died a few hours after he competed in the FBC Zim Open tournament in the capital.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Lieutenant General (Rtd) Anslem Sanyatwe today visited two of the injured golfers, Ayisa and Kachepatsonga who are receiving treatment at Kensington Medical Centre in Harare.
Masunga and Chibvuri have since been discharged.
