MUTARE-Daring robbers pounced on a whisky delivering truck parked at Manyati Bar about 100m from Mutare Central Police Station and made off with US$8 050.

Lokeswar Reddy Yarrabaui (29) of Choppies in Ruwa and Jacob Manyenhesa (46) Of Highfield in Harare employed as finance analyst and driver respectively by Sahana Industries Ltd had parked their delivery vehicle at the Manyati watering hole to fill their bottles at around 11pm when the robbers pounced.

The two were on their way back to Harare after delivering whisky to shops in Mutare City and collected cash as well on April 2.

After parking at Manyati bar, Jacob disembarked and went to buy beers and food at the restaurant when four men approached Reddy and demanded that he opens the passenger’s door.

Reddy refused and the other robber from the black Toyota Rav 4 parked behind the whisky delivery truck jumped in the truck through the driver’s door and grabbed a satchel which contained US$8 50 and drove off into the night along Harare road.

Manicaland Province acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said the two made a report at Mutare Central and investigations are still in progress.
