KWEKWE-Police is investigating a robbery case where four unknown men pounced on Moss 21 Mine and took valuables worth US$18 055-00.
Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident that occurred along Harare-Bulawayo Road near Truckers Inn on 12 April 2023 around 1am.
Insp Mahoko told The Midweek Watch that the suspects who were armed with a pistol, a knife and a machete, forced an employee who was alone on duty at the mine to lie down and tied his hands and legs.
He said “they went on to search the complainant and took his USD$10 and a cellphone before breaking into the workshop through the roof”.
From the workshop, Insp Mahoko said the suspects took a generator, grinder, welding machine, two gas cylinders, one 2horse power submersible pump, one fan, a 3kg gas tank and 2 Kango black pots.
Insp Mahoko added that the four also entered the carbon rooms where they got away with 300 kilograms of gold carbons.
He said a report was made to the ZRP Kwekwe Rural who attended the scene.
Mahoko appealed to the public to assist in the investigations of the case.
