Riverton Murinye ready for 2026 opening

Murinye – Riverton Academy Group of Schools T/A Riverton Extension Murinye is ready to open its doors to learners for the first time in 2026, The Midweek Watch can reveal.

Riverton Academy Group of Schools operations manager, Percy Nhenga said the new kid on the education block is located about 70 km from Masvingo City after Lake Mutirikwi under Chief Murinye in Masvingo Rural.

 Nhenga said the school offers both day and boarding facilities to students of mixed abilities, with an enrolment capacity of 300 learners. Riverton Extension Murinye accommodates both boys and girls from all corners of the world and offers Cambridge syllabus for all its learners.

Riverton Academy Group of Schools is a leading independent boarding school with four private schools all in Masvingo Rural District. It is renowned for its excellence in academics and discipline, and is among the leading private schools in Zimbabwe.

Riverton Academy Group of Schools is owned by Philemon Mutangiri, a veteran educationist, farmer with a strong a background in business.   

Riverton Extension Murinye is at 95 percent completion, and will accommodate 150 boys and 150 girls. Many parents see Riverton as an ideal setting for students who need a focused, no nonsense approach to education and character development.

The environment of Riverton Extension Murinye is ideal for learning and with the drug and substance abuse scourge ravaging the country, the school is ideally located to prevent the pandemic as it is away from the madding urban influence.

In an interview with The Midweek Watch during the tour of Riverton Extension Murinye on Tuesday, Nhenga said they are ready to open come 2026 academic year.

“Everything is going on well and we are at 95% completion, we will start with an enrolment of 300 learners and urge parents to book for the entrance test on 15 November 2025 in order to avoid disappointments at the last minute.  

‘’With a consistently strong pass rate and a reputation as one of the best schools in the region, Riverton Academy is widely respected, academically, and for grooming morally upright students.  It is especially suited for learners who thrive in a disciplined setting and are committed to academic excellence,” said Nhenga.

He added that there will a bus to ferry prospective learners for the form one entrance test on November 15 that will depart from Chevron Hotel in the morning to Riverton Extension.

Riverton Murinye came about as a result of a surge in demand for places at the other three sister schools namely; Riverton Academy along Mutare road in Masvingo Rural, Riverton Glenlivet Girls High and Riverton Westview College along Bulawayo road just outside Masvingo City.
