Guiding star Old Students Association donates to Guiding Star High School

Timoth Muswere.

It was a joyful day at Guiding Star High School on Friday 17 October 2025 as G*OSA officially handed over some goodies donated to the school.

As it has always been said in traditional norms and values that charity begins at home, the former students united in donating some building materials, sanitary wear, stationary, satchels among other goodies. Although the issue of former students associations donating to schools has always been common in several schools it hasn’t been the same in most rural schools. Bound by a unanimous consensus initiative set upon on a mere social media platform the Guiding Star Old Student Association have gone miles away to make it an annual work never to be missed. Representing the entire G*OSA was its steering Chairperson Mr Muzamani and the Treasurer Ms Jerera in handing over the goods. The donated items were received with a warm heart of applause and appreciation by the School Adminstration and the SDC represented by its Chairperson Mr Tawedzerwa Chese who is also a participating member of the G*OSA. Building material worth nearly half a thousand US dollars was donated and is meant assist in the construction of special toilets.

Apart from the building material, G*OSA went on to be gender sensitive and not blind by recognizing the problems associated with girl child in her biological systematic nature and donated Sanitary pads to all the girls. Quality satchels were also donated together with stationary books, pens etc.  The gesture taken by both the receiving end and those that extend their hand inspire students to work hard in their academic works.

Last year the G*OSA also assisted to a great speech and prize giving day at the school which attracted admiration from the local community and members of staff. Apart from materialistic benefits the gesture brings closer the teachers, parents ,students and the community for the development of the school.

As we look forward to a more advanced level next year , the G*OSA continue to appeal to other Old students to come on board and reveal their nolstagia as there is still a lot to be done to assist the school. G*OSA also extends it’s appeal and have its doors opened for non former students who may want to partner with the association for such a cause. Exceptional gratitude to Mr Muzamani who also netted a catch of partners from Harare who also chipped in with a loaded extended hand of love. The partners namely Mrs Mupaya,Mrs Mambo, Mrs Chihota, Mrs Mapungwana, Mrs Mhlanga and Mrs Gohori continue to be awesome pillars of the G*OSA whose members have gained several networks across the world which should be channeled to our beloveth Guiding Star School so that it may be the torch bearer , shining and guiding star of the district in academic, sporting and cultural excellence.

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” (Mahatma Gandhi ).The statement perfectly encapsulates the spirit of G*OSA’s initiatives.
