PSMAS in nationwide wellness outreach

Date:

Background

Who is Premier Lifestyle?

This is a wellness programme offered by Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS) as an add on service to all people on its medical aid, regardless of plan one is on. It is aimed at promoting healthy living through prevention, early detection and disease self-management.

Context

Due to increasing burden of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and cancer countrywide, PSMAS through Premier Lifestyle continues to complement Government’s efforts in reducing non-communicable diseases. PSMAS does this by offering regular screenings to identify risks, diagnose conditions early and assist in management of the same.

PSMAS has so far conducted general health screenings for close to 10 000 members since the beginning of the year, 600 cervical cancer screenings, 400 prostate cancer screenings and 500 breast cancer screenings.

The Society has also conducted Health and Wellness programs for 15 of its member organisations, which include the Public Service Commission, Ministry of Women Affairs, National Museums and Monuments, Judicial Service Commission and various other Government departments in more than 10 cities and towns.

Masvingo outreach

This week, we are in Masvingo where we are offering general wellness screenings i.e BP, blood sugar, weight, height, cervical cancer screening, breast examination, prostate cancer screening, BMI and health education.

Our target is to reach out to at least 1 000 people in Masvingo with our services. The program is being done at Masvingo PSMI facility Car Park located at 44 Eddison Zvobgo Street.

We call upon PSMAS members in Masvingo to take advantage of the opportunity to get free health checks on offer. Early detection is critical in the prevention and management of chronic conditions.

For details of next activities, PSMAS members and prospects can follow us on our social media platforms.
