Masvingo-Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match day three produced a series of closely contested matches across the country today, with teams showing strong defending and determination as they continue to search for early-season momentum.

The day’s action saw six matches played at different venues, with two ending in goalless draws and the other four decided by narrow one-goal margins, highlighting how competitive the league has become.
At Rufaro Stadium in the capital, new comers FC Hunters and former four times champions FC Platinum played out a 0-0 draw in a match that lacked clear-cut chances. Both sides struggled to break each other down, settling for a point apiece.
Another goalless encounter was witnessed at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo where Benjani Mwaruwari 100 year old Highlanders (Chilamoya) were held by Lloyd Mutasa’s MWOS FC aka The Panthers. Despite enjoying huge home support, Highlanders could not find a way past a disciplined MWOS defence.
At Gibbo Stadium in Triangle, CAPS United secured an important 1-0 victory over Triangle United. The visitors utilised the golden chance that they got to convert the priceless goal and held on to claim all three points in a tightly fought match.
New boys, moneybags Hardrock FC also registered a vital 1-0 win against Chicken Inn FC at Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe. The home side showed resilience to protect their lead and walked away with maximum points.
In Mhondoro at Baobab Stadium, former champions Ngezi Platinum Stars mounted strong attacking play to beat ZPC Kariba 2-1 in one of the most exciting matches of the day. The win gives Ngezi a valuable boost as they aim to stay among the early pacesetters as they challenge for honours.
Meanwhile, in Gweru at Ascot Stadium, Shamvea based 2024 champions Simba Bhora edged TelOne 1-0 in another closely contested fixture, continuing their steady start to the season.
The results from today’s matches are significant as teams are still trying to build rhythm and consistency in the opening stages of the campaign. With every point proving crucial, clubs are working hard to position themselves strongly on the league table.
Action continues tomorrow as more teams take to the field. Mutare based Manica Diamonds FC will face the richest club in the league, Scotland FC at Gibbo Stadium in a match expected to draw plenty of attention. At Barbourfields Stadium, returning side Bulawayo Chiefs will battle it out against the most successful club in the country who escaped relation last season by the skin of their teeth, Dynamos in what promises to be a thrilling encounter. Herentals College FC aka The Students are also set to host newly promoted Agama FC at Rufaro Stadium.
As the league progresses, fans can expect more competitive matches as teams fight for dominance and early control of the season.
The injection of millions by club owners and sponsors has brought more competition in the Castle Lager League and every match and point matters most at this stage.
