As women scale greater heights in the academic world, Professor Marian Tukuta has made history by being appointed Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) first female Pro Vice Chancellor beginning in April.

Prof Tukuta is Pro Vice Chancellor for Industrialisation, Business Development, and Strategic Partnerships.
The GZU Director of Information and Public Relations Anderson Chipatiso confirmed the development saying Prof Tukuta brings a wealth of experience in higher education management to her new role.
Chipatiso said as a leader and mentor, Professor Tukuta is dedicated to fostering a culture of academic excellence and research-driven innovation. Her new role at GZU presents a significant opportunity to further enhance the university’s strategic vision in industrialisation, business development, and strategic partnerships.
As a full professor of supply chain management, Prof Tukuta has earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in supply chain management from Fort Hare University, South Africa. She also holds an MPhil in Logistics, an MBA, and a Bachelor of Business Studies Honours degree.
She is a leading authority in the academia, with 65 publications in prestigious international, double-blind peer-reviewed journals. She has authored several books and presented numerous papers at international conferences. Her research focus includes procurement, logistics, and transport.
In addition to her academic achievements, Prof Tukuta has extensive leadership experience. She served as Executive Dean of the School of Entrepreneurship and Business Sciences at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) for eight years, launching several strategic business units and spearheading research and innovation initiatives.
Her ability to balance academic success with family life exemplifies her commitment to both personal and professional fulfilment.
