President promotes 32 Midlands senior correctional officers

GWERU- President Mnangagwa has promoted 32 Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) officers in the Midlands province.

The other 159 officers received their promotions from the ZPCS Commissioner General, Dr. Moses Chihobvu.

The 32 correctional officers were elevated to commissioned ranks while 159 members where promoted to non-commissioned ranks.

Officiating during the conferment parade on behalf Dr. Chihobvu, ZPCS Officer Commanding Midlands Province Commissioner Somemore Gate expressed gratitude to President Mnangagwa for recognising the officers’ service, encouraging them to continue working hard.

“This promotion comes with greater responsibility. Officers must continue to serve with distinction, integrity and utmost patriotism,” he said.

He urged ZPCS members to remain disciplined, hardworking and avoid drug and substance abuse.

“There is no room for indiscipline and laziness within our ranks.

“Drug and substance abuse brings nothing but stagnation and destruction.  As leaders, you are expected to set a positive example and uphold the values of the ZPCS,” he said.

He urged the promoted officers to become leaders and role models in the society, advising them to be creative in solving problems and motivate their subordinates.
