President Mnangagwa has poured US$150 000 into regional soccer powerhouse, Masvingo United Football Club aka Una Una for the 2026 season.

The US$150 000 from the Presidential Fund is expected to strengthen the team ahead of the upcoming Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League Division One season.
An initial US$35 000 was handed over to the club’s treasurer Edwin Rafemoyo today in Harare by Lovemore Matuke, Minister of State for National Security and Chairperson of the Resource Mobilisation Committee, accompanied by Ezra Chadzamira, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Masvingo Province.
The handover ceremony of the US$35 000 was attended by Kazembe Kazembe, Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, and Ziyambi Ziyambi, Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs.
The remainder of the funds, together with two vehicles and a team bus are expected to be presented to the club as the season progresses.
Club spokesperson Omen Mafa confirmed the development to The Midweek Watch, saying the club had already received the first tranche of US$35 000.
“So far we have received US$35 000 today, but the total allocation from the Presidential Fund is US$150 000. In addition to the funding, the club will also receive a team bus and two motor vehicles,” said Mafa.
He expressed appreciation to President Mnangagwa for the support, noting that the assistance had come at a crucial stage of the club’s preparations for the 2026 season
“The funding and resources have come at an important time during our pre-season preparations. As a team we are highly motivated and confident. We have promised our supporters, the community and all stakeholders that we will work hard to secure promotion to the Premier Soccer League come end of the season,” he said.
Mafa added that the intervention followed engagements with provincial leadership regarding the challenges the club has faced for more than two decades.
“We approached Minister Chadzamira and briefed him on the difficulties the club has experienced over the past 20 years. He then relayed the concerns to Minister Matuke and Minister John Paradza, and together they presented the matter to His Excellency,” he said.
The financial boost comes at a critical time as the team intensifies preparations for the 2026 PSERSL which commences on March 21.
