PENHALONGA-The gold rich community of Penhalonga in Tsvingwe medium density suburb was left in shock as a 35 year old polygamist drank poison and died in full view of his two wives for blocking his bid for a third wife.
The two wives, believed to be blood sisters, Bridget Nhopore and Brenda Nhopore (25) had a heated argument with their husband Brighton Mhungu over marrying another wife.
The incident happened on January 5, at around 7:40pm, acting Manicaland province police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka told The Midweek Watch.
Chinyoka said Brighton could not stomach the blockade to take in a third wife and told the two that he was taking his life and instantly gulped poison and drove off in his blue Honda Fit for about 1km from the homestead.
His lifeless body was found in the Honda Fit which was parked by the road side by Benson Nhopore (54) on the same night.
A report was made to the police and the body was taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital for postmortem.
Chinyoka urged families to seek mediation in the event of a misunderstanding in order to have their differences resolved amicably.
