MASVINGO-Police in Masvingo has recovered a Toyota Corolla stolen in Harare after receiving information on the tracker that it was heading towards Masvingo.

The car was stolen by three suspects, two are still at large while 22 year old Tinashe Choisani was after being shot on the leg by the Police.

Masvingo Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the news and encouraged motorists to install vehicle trackers as they help in the event of car theft.

Dhewa said that on May 20, Assistant Commissioner Florence Marume received a call from an informer that the stolen vehicle was seen leaving Harare and heading towards Masvingo.

She activated all the Police teams including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and ordered that the CBD be manned as well as all the entrance and exit roads into Masvingo City.

When the tree suspects were about to enter Masvingo they realised that the entry point was manned so they took a right turn at Bulawayo turnoff towards Mashava.

However, the police had recognised the car and they followed it without raising alarm as they did not want to alert the suspects.

The detectives followed the car to Mandamabwe-Chivi road where they caught up with the criminals at Musvuugwa homestead under Chief Madyangove.

Upon seeing the police, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and ran away which resulted in one of them being shot.

The vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner while the nabbed suspect went for treatment under police custody.
