Police launch manhunt for violent mine robbers

Kwekwe –Police has initiated a manhunt for a gang of 10 men involved in a violent robbery at the Tryper Tight Mining Syndicate which occurred on September 29, 2024.

According to police reports, the suspects stormed the mining site where four workers Coster Mbirimi, Maphosa Gladman, Tinevimbo Makwande, and David Mangena were present. Upon sensing danger Gladman, Makwande, and Mangena fled the scene, leaving behind their cell phones.

The gang confronted Mbirimi, attacking him with beer bottles and sticks. They then targeted Muzira, who was asleep in a vehicle, breaking the car windows, dragging him out, and assaulting him with an iron bar.

 The suspects however seized the cell phones left by the fleeing workers and proceeded to load approximately one tonne of gold ore into a vehicle before making good their escape.

The value of the stolen gold ore is currently under assessment.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko is appealing for information regarding suspects’ whereabouts.

“Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects.” Mahoko said.
