BIKITA – Police in Masvingo Province have launched a massive manhunt for a 24-year-old Takudzwa Chagwiza, who is wanted in connection with a case of kidnapping and unlawful detention that occurred on October 16, near Mangoro Village, under Chief Mazungunye in Bikita.

Takudzwa Chagwiza.

According to a statement issued by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Masvingo Province in possession of The Midweek Watch, Chagwiza allegedly lured a six-year-old boy who was on his way home from school.

The suspect reportedly enticed the child with a pack of Zapnack crunchies before asking him to help carry firewood to a nearby location.

He then vanished with the boy, taking him to an unknown destination.

Police have described the incident as deeply concerning, noting that this is not the first time the suspect has been linked to such crimes.

In July 2025, Chagwiza was reportedly involved in a similar case in which he abducted a nine-year-old child and hid with the victim in a mountain for several days before being discovered.

The suspect has a history of such offenses, and the police are treating this matter with the utmost urgency.

The ZRP is appealing to members of the public to provide any information that may lead to the safe recovery of the victim and the arrest of the suspect.

Authorities are urging residents of Bikita and surrounding communities to be on high alert and to monitor the movements of strangers in their areas.

Concerned citizens with any leads are encouraged to contact Chief Inspector Morgan Chatikobo on 0772549755, or reach the Masvingo Press and Public Relations Section at 0392264421.

Information can also be shared via WhatsApp on 0775996945, or by visiting the nearest police station.
