KWEKWE-The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched a manhunt for a three-man gang that invaded FBC Shops in Mbizo, Kwekwe, and escaped with US$2,435 in cash.
The brazen robbery occurred on June 15, 2025, at around 7:30 pm, with the suspects threatening shopkeepers at gunpoint.
According to Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the trio wore monkey hats and brandished three pistols as they robbed two shops and a butchery.
The victims, identified as Malifa Makina (33), Fransica Kumbula (34) and Mwerenga Denzel (21) all of Mbizo, Kwekwe, were left shaken but unharmed.
In an unrelated incident, a 29-year-old man, Nyasha Chaza, is on the run after allegedly attempting to murder his girlfriend, Phumuzile Kufaulele, in a petrol-fueled attack at Empress Business Centre in Zhombe.
The life threatening incident occurred on Monday around 11:30 PM.
Mahoko told The Midweek Watch that Chaza allegedly fastened Kufaulele’s door from the outside, poured petrol on it, and set it ablaze after a heated argument earlier in the day.
Kufaulele suffered serious burns in the incident and is currently admitted to Kadoma Hospital in serious condition.
“We are calling for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect, Nyasha Chaza,” said Inspector Mahoko.
“We appeal to members of the public to solve disputes or differences amicably by engaging a third party. Use of violence constitutes an offence and leads to unnecessary injuries or loss of lives.”
Police are urging anyone with information leading to the arrest of the suspects on the two cases to come forward and assist in their arrest.
