MIDWEEK REPORTER

ZVISHAVANE – Contrary to a social media post circulating purporting that there is a curfew in Zvishavane following the murder of two people, police have refuted the claim and said there is only a prohibition order on carrying of certain weapons in public.

“Notice:

There is a 9pm curfew in Zvishavane following the death of 4 individuals who were found mysteriously dead in different parts of Zvishavane and the killer is still at large.

Be advised to avoid roaming around without a valid reason any time after 9 you will be arrested,” read the false post.

Midlands Province Community Relations and Liaison Officer, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko cleared the air on the confusion caused by the social media post and said there is no curfew in the mining town.

“We experienced 2 murder cases on same day but different areas and these coincided with our operation on dangerous weapons and a running prohibition order issued by the regulating officer , Chief Superintendent Crispen Muzivi being the Officer Commanding Police Zvishavane District, no curfew has been given. Three suspects have been accounted for, we are awaiting for the full details,” he said.
