Parly demanding from citizens what MPs don’t have!

Date:

During the 7th Parliament a survey was conducted for Members of Parliament on ‘Capacity & Development “. The results were alarmingly shocking as more than 80% of Legislators didn’t have Emails nor able to use a computer.

Many remember the then Minister of ICT Hon Nelson Chamisa taking President Mugabe’s Cabinet Ministers through basic computer lessons.

It was shocking to many when then Minister of Finance Tendai Biti said he was surprised that many Cabinet Ministers jumped prepared to shoot out of the room when Hon Chamisa said this is a mouse on a computer.

Many Zimbabweans thought the computer illiteracy level of Cabinet Ministers was exaggerated. The aged ZanuPF MPs and senators were worse just like their cabinet Ministers.

Parliament of Zimbabwe instead of the Public Hearing is asking for email communication as contributions to the Constitution Amendment Bill 3. Isn’t this a mockery. Parliament must first unveil the results of the aforesaid survey of 7th Parliament so that it can be used as basis for debate.

If MPs and senators were not able to communicate through emails do you expect the voters to be more enlightened than their leader?

The Parliament of Zimbabwe knew very well when the 90 days of public consultation were to resume. They left it until too late. Now they have scheduled only one day for public hearings. The one day allocated is for less than 3 hours per District.

The Parliament of Zimbabwe is deliberately avoiding people’s voice. President Mnangagwa said he is a listening President and that the voice of the people is the voice of God. Parliament let voice of God speak through enough public hearing…..at least two meetings per constituency will be a minimum requirement.
