CHIREDZI-Parliament of Zimbabwe was adjudged the overall winner of the just ended 43rd  Lowveld Agricultural Show and Trade Fair after a great display resonating well with the show’ s theme; “Connecting Minds, Creating Business and Empower the Nation”.

The award was presented by public relations executive for Greenfuel, Merit Rumema who represented the guest of honor.

The Parliament of Zimbabwe had also won a gold medal in the category of Government Departments/Ministries for their achievement in exhibition at the Trade Fair, while Lowveld Research Institute came second and Agritex was third.

Guest of honor represented by Rurema who officially opened the ceremony said the main reason of the Trade Fair is to use it as an opportunity to develop the Lowveld Region to improve the agricultural sector for the better since it is the main economic activity for the area.

“Our overall objective is to develop the agricultural sector in such a way that it embodies the values of our economic development programme and dictates of equity.

“To achieve this, we have to ensure that the necessary conditions for commercial agriculture thrive across the whole spectrum of industrial hubs in the Lowveld. This should include improvement of working conditions of thousands of workers especially in the sugar and cane industry which is the torch bearer of the Lowveld”.

He also pointed out that the fair is an opportunity for different companies, small and big to associate and develop the region which is rich in the agricultural sector through communication, tackling issues and bringing out great achievements within the Region such as producing well bred livestock, high grade grains and horticultural products as well as machinery and implements.

“I believe that this event will continue to contribute to the strengthening of the agricultural sector, economic and business relations, strengthening communication between suppliers and potential customers”.

The Agricultural Show attracted more than 70 exhibitors with new exhibitors Zimoco and CP Chemicals participating among others.
