MASVINGO-A massive manhunt is underway following two B-Class prisoners, Feliciano Simango, also known as Fidelis Jorum Mauyangwe, and Never Matoma’s escape in movie style from Mutimurefu Prison in Masvingo on March 5.

Sources told The Midweek Watch that 15 prisoners were dispatched to one of the senior prison officers’ farm for supervised work when the two dramatically got into the officer’s vehicle and drove off at high speed.
The two were spotted by the villagers who were shocked to see prisoners driving a ZPCS vehicle.

The two panicked and were involved in an accident, but managed to flee from the scene with the senior officer’s money that was in the car and disappeared into the bush.
The incident happened at around 11am.
According to Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Assistant Commissioner Meya Khanyezi the national public relations officer, the duo made their break during a supervised work assignment outside the prison facility, hijacking a ZPCS vehicle in their attempt to flee.
However, their freedom was short-lived, as the vehicle crashed approximately 2.5 kilometers from the site, rendering it inoperable. The escapees then fled on foot, prompting a massive search operation.
The ZPCS has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information that may assist in locating the escapees. Assistant Commissioner Meya Khanyezi, National Public Relations Officer, can be contacted on 0773418132 or 0714239142 for any information.
An investigation into the latest escape is currently underway.
