Pakistan nabbed for violating immigration laws

GWERU-A Pakistan national has been arraigned before the courts for illegally entering the country without proper traveling documents.
Abdul Saeed aged 40 years appeared before Gweru Magistrate Miriam Banda today for contravening section 29(1) (a) as read with section 29(2a) of the Immigration Act Chapter 4:02.
It is the State case that Saeed entered Zimbabwe on an unknown date through an unknown entry point and resided at house number CH53 Ironside, Shurugwi with his wife.
The court heard that on February 1, 2023 the accused presented himself to the Department of Immigration Gweru office, with the intention to get a Visa and renewal of his passport.
It is alleged that upon being requested by the immigration officials to produce his travelling documents, Saeed only produced an expired Pakistan passport number KH142875 without any endorsement of either South Africa or Zimbabwe Visa or permit.
Saeed was subsequently arrested for illegally staying in Zimbabwe and handed over to the police.
Saeed was represented by Tatenda Tsikamwenda of Tavenhave and Machingauta law firm.
According to Tsikamwenda, Saeed will remain in custody pending deportation.
He said they are “ filing an appeal to challenge his detention”.
Saeed was married to a Zimbabwean woman and have three children.
