MASVINGO- Albert Machado (14) from Harare was pronounced dead on admission at Silveria Mission Hospital in Bikita after an accident that happened along Mutare-Masvingo Highway near Nyika Growth Point.
Albert was traveling in a Toyota Runx which had four other passengers on board driven by one Fibre Machado on April 10, when tragedy struck.
Masvingo Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the accident and said the driver is being charged with culpable homicide.
“Motorists are urged to be speed cautious and attentive when driving to avoid accidents. Fibre Machado is being charged with culpable homicide as he was over-speeding,” said Dhewa.
The circumstances are that on April 10 Machado’s car which was over-speeding overturned twice and landed upside down after he lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid a head on collision.
Lovemore Mukukute (40) was driving on the same road with five passengers on board and had parked his vehicle at 182km peg along Masvingo-Mutare Highway when the accident occurred and the other vehicle involved did not stop.
