Stars since ancient times are described as forever, hope, destiny, heaven and freedom. They are also of great importance and we believe that falling stars make our wishes come true.

Ancient sailors used the stars to help guide them while they were at sea. Just like Phoenicians looked to the sun’s movement across heaven to tell them their direction.

Thus, what the wise men in the Bible did during their time, they were different people who were   gifted differently in their own way.

We had the sons of Issachar who were known for understanding the meanings of time and the wise men were known for their ability to communicate with stars, they were educated and notable men who studied the stars and apparently knew the prophesies well.

The Bible calls them the wise men, for their wisdom was likely born from knowledge and fear of the Lord and was then handed down to generations through time.

We know that the wise men were skilled in watching stars, they were diligent in setting out and following it to Jerusalem and eventually to the Christ child.

The Bible also tells us that their intention was grounded in knowing that this child was born the King of the Jews so they came to worship him.

The star of Bethlehem or the Christmas star appeared on to the wise men from the east that inspired them to travel to Jerusalem.

Christians believe the star was a miraculous sign to mark the birth of the Christ.

It was the star that gave them the direction and they would use the same stars to determine the time and for that reason it was the star that acknowledged the birth of Christ therefore, it is wise people that look for Jesus Christ.

The lesson we learn from the wise men is that we too, must trust in what God has said in his word. He gives us wisdom, just as he gave it to the wise men who believed God and his word and acted accordingly.

Christmas is a wonderful time to reflect on the greatest gift God gave to mankind when he sent his son into the world. It is a great time to examine your hearts and ask ourselves that are we wise to be going to church and serving the Lord.

Are we not wasting our time going to church, is it not the foolish people that look for God?

In Mathew 2;1-4 it was the wise men that looked for Jesus  and as they followed the stars, it was never said that it was an easy thing to do as they also had to bring  gifts.

It is wisdom to seek God. You are wise to go to church and serve the Lord. You are not wasting your time by going to church.

It is the wise people that look for God, with all your degrees, your certificates, millions, your thousand blessings, some will say they have no qualifications, no job, no marriage, health problems, God must be first in your life for out of the least shall come the governor.

It takes serious commitment to know the stars, therefore don’t conclude on people. For, it’s the least that come great in life. I remember following up on why the ambulance refused to take my uncle to the hospital then he had a stroke while driving. ‘The reason was because he was dead’ who are you to determine the death of a person when God himself has not spoken. God has a habit of lifting up those people who we would have concluded on.

May God pick you up, in the multitude of people for God picks the least. Lord may I be your choice in 2024.

Don’t wait for people to be big to befriend them. Be a friend to everyone including those who have nothing in the community, because when you are struggling you tend to have no friends.

How you relate to people will determine how they will treat you later in life. Mind how you treat people today for tomorrow you will meet them later in life when in need of them.

May God open your eyes to see the best in everyone.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
