Gokwe-Kunashe Chirwa (22) of Gokwe died on spot while 3 other passengers were injured after a vehicle they were travelling lost power while driving uphill and hit a tree as it was going down.
Details gathered by this publication reveal that on May 26 the vehicle a Nissan Atlas with 4 passengers on board and around 1030pm failed to drive uphill at the 19km peg along the Gokwe-Sibuwa Road.
As it was in forced reversal it veered off the road before hitting a tree after the driver, Moses Zivengwa failed to control it.
Chirwa died on the spot and his body was ferried to Gokwe South Hospital while the other injured 3 people were also admitted and discharged later on at the same hospital.
Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko has urged motorists to constantly check their vehicles before embarking on a journey.
“We urge motorists to always ensure that their vehicles are road worthy to avoid loss of life on the roads,” he said.

The Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe, Midlands Province recently issued a statement advising motorists against irresponsible driving saying a lot of lives were being lost in the country’s major highways due to negligent driving and over speeding.
