KWEKWE- Police confirm a fatal road traffic accident where one person died on the spot while 25 others escaped with various injuries.
The head on collision involving a Mazda B1800 and a Nissan Caravan occurred along Kwekwe-Gokwe road on 31 December 2023 at around 1725 hours.
Reports say that Oswell Gumbo (51) of Mbizo, Kwekwe who was driving a Mazda B1800 to Gokwe alone had a head on collision with Lovemore Chikarara who was driving a Nissan Caravan in the opposite direction with 25 passengers on board at the 2km peg.
Oswell Gumbo was trapped in his vehicle and died on the spot. ZRP Kwekwe traffic attended the scene and took the body to Kwekwe General Hospital.
The 25 passengers from the Nissan Caravan sustained moderate to serious injuries and were referred to the same hospital for medical attention.
