Nyangani FM station manager acquitted

Nyangani community radio station manager Stanford Muhowa (34) was acquitted of assault charges by Nyanga magistrate Notebulgar Muchineripi last Friday.

It was the State’s case led by Beverly Chatindo that on 02nd September 2025 and at Nyangani FM studios, Nyanga, Muhowa assaulted journalist, Yolanda Simango (31) by slapping her once on her face using an open hand.

“On 2 September 2025 at around 0930hrs and at Nyangani FM studios, Muhowa called Simango whom he accused of having sprayed unknown anointing oil at the main gate and also that she had falsely reported him to the Human Resource Manager.

“Muhowa acted as if he wanted to take some keys which were at the Nyangani FM cottage door where Simango was standing and instead, then slapped her once upon her face with his open right hand,” prosecuted Chatindo.

Magistrate Muchineripi cited inconsistencies in Simango’s evidence and set the accused free.
