Nyanga man succumbs to excessive consumption of illicit beer

MUTARE-A Nyanga man was found dead on August 25 after he allegedly drank an illicit beer in excess.

Police have identified the deceased as Rhinos Kunyarimwe (52) of Kunyarimwe Village in Nyanga.

Manicaland provincial assistant police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said the incident happened at Maswera Compound in Penhalonga.

It Is alleged that Kunyarimwe visited his friend David Majazu on August 24 at around 7am. The two started drinking Teku-teku  together the whole day on  empty stomachs.

At around 5pm, Kunyarimwe left Majazu’s homestead to his house to sleep.

The following morning at around 6am, Innocent Manditsera who is Kunyarimwe’s neighbour was on his way to fetch water when he discovered Kunyarimwe’s door wide open. Manditsera called out Kunyarimwe but he did not respond.

When Manditsera went closer, he discovered Kunyarimwe’s lifeless body lying on the floor. He informed Majazu and they proceeded to Penhalonga police station to make a report.

Kunyarimwe’s body was taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital for postmortem.
